Anyone have tips or tricks for removing the toilet (black water) gate valve/ drain pipe? Mine has a slow leak I'd like to resolve. It looks like it was glued together after the threaded top part was installed, and the only way off is to cut the pipe? (I saw Eddie's response to a toilet removal question where it sounded like this assessment was correct, but wanted to verify.)
When I try to turn the pipe, everything (including the threaded top part) spins 15 degrees or so, and then the corner of the gate hits the frame rail.
Remove the four bolts, remove the old gate valve and seals, install new seals and valve and replace with new bolts.
Thanks! Part of what I am trying to fix is located above the gate - there's water at the ABS pipe join right above the gate. I think 95% of the leak is at the gate, but I'm not keen on leaks from the black water...

It is going to depend on the toilet you have, but Scamp has seals at the gate valve, at the toilet and a wax ring. I’d rinse it well and fill it full of clean water. Then squirt some powder on everything and look for the leak. Scamp will know what toilet was used in your year and has parts. Please let us know what you find. If it's the wax ring, I hope it's a stock size Scamp shipping is a deal breaker. https://www.scamptrailers.com/parts-store-cat-view/plumbing/wax-ring-for...
Looks like your top flange has a cracked corner. I have removed the gate valve, cleaned the parts and glued the pieces back together. ABS can be glued with ABS glue or bound together with acetone and is pretty strong. I use wide washers on the flange bolts to help spread the load. The gate valve should be a 3" valve found at most RV shops or Amazon. Wal Mart used to stock then but a few years back they quit stocking them in the store.

Thanks everyone!
I removed the bolts (two sheared, two tore out the flange corner). When I went to remove the gate, the whole assembly pulled out - turns out it was not correctly glued (if at all). I replaced the broken flanges with an extension and 90-degree bend before the gate. Hopefully I never need to pull it off again, but it will be service-accessible if I ever need to and be easier to dump.
