first post // ongoing mod thread

Hello, making  a thread I will update with new mods as I finish them for not only keeping track myself, but also in case anyone wants to use my (stupid) ideas. cheeky My scamp is brand new a couple months ago '19 13fter so my mods for now will mostly be non damaging. First thing I did:

tv mount bracket made of steel sheet bent in two places at about 30 degrees each.

As you can see I used 4 of the existing screws for the window frame (2 on each side). I made the bracket but then bolted a low profile tilt mount from amazon to it. Need to touch up the paint a bit. Next up is a wooden stove cover.

stove cover is done. 1/4"

stove cover is done. 1/4" maple plywood on top of a maple board frame. I actually messed upnthe depth and had to router out the bottom a bit. Don't care what the bottom looks like though.

Betterments & improvements

Hi Chase.

Enjoying your improvements your making on your new 13 ' .  I get mine in mid August so I am following the things that you are doing to yours.    Questions  1)  The black light in the pic - Does it come standard now or was it an option?  2)  I understand that the closet is empty. Are you thinking of adding shelves or pull outs or adding anything else in there to improve storage  or leave it as just a closet to hang clothes & jackets?  3)  What did you do for an antenna?  and do you take it down after camping or is it stationary.     One last thing for now   Can you also post pics of your completed projects  (can't really see your modified tv bracket and how it's connected to the window frame)  & also a pic of your project for the stove cover would be great  and of course any of your up coming projects.

Looking forward to your projects and comments as a newbie

Hey Larry,

Hey Larry,

The black LED lights were an option I added--additional lights that scamp added. I got one at each corner of the bed.

The closet has two cabinets on top of eachother but from what I have heard is that big bottom section is hollow and you can add another cabinet down there which I do plan on doing at some point but I want to make sure it is truely hollow there before I start cutting stuff.

I got an amplified antenna that I just tuck behind the tv when not in use and when in use I go out the back window and lay it on top of the roof. If I get two channels Im happy. I also have a roku stick plugged into the back of the tv for campsites that have wifi.

The first picture it is attached to the windows on each side. 2 screws on each side. I just drilled 1/8" holes in my bracket and then used the existing screws that were already in the window frame as they were plenty long and my bracket is pretty thin.

I will get some more pics up.

Ok so for some reason all the pictures were missing that I uploaded originally so I think I got those fixed....

Working on simple boring paper towel holder tomorrow, Then I might tackle a sink cover/cutting board like the stove cover is.

Great pics

Hi Chase

Great pics.

One thing I have heard from  a lot of people on this site is that they don't find the bed comfortable and that a lot of people have added foam or memory foam  and that made a big difference.   Is that one of your up coming projects or you find the bed Ok

Don' forget the pic on your paper towel holder when you complete that. Where you mounted it and why there.  I thought a cutting board over the sink comes with the trailer? I thought the sink came with a sink cover cutting board ( I guess I was wrong)   saw it some pics.

A comment I read stated that the patio light switches are close to the door and you can accidently turn them on without knowing it.  One person wrote that she put velcros over the switches so you can't accidently turn it on. ( any experience with that)

Keep on finding projects.

Larry

Sink cover.

My porch light switch was part of the light, I changed to LED and moved the switch inside between the door and the screen.

I made my own sink cover to gain some space.

All my camps have been one

All my camps have been one nighters so I haven't had an issue with the bed yet but I am very picky with bed comfort so I know it will be a problem in 2+ days. I have been looking into memory foam toppers as a quick and easy fix, but long term it would be cool to find a custom mattress/cushion maker that can put some quality filling in these things.  Scamp really should offer different cushion fill options...

You can buy a stove cover as an add on through scamp but I didn't see the sink cover.

I haven't bumped the porch ligh switches yet, I have two, one for above the door and the other above the battery. Maybe they redesigned something or moved them.
