I'm updating the 2000 16' (Standard Layout 4) I recently purchased. Do I need to treat or sand them? Any other advice will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Advice on painting standard cabinets
The fiberglass cabinets will need a bit of sanding and Marine paint will probably be what you’d need to use on them. Best to use a small roller to apply marine paint.

I want to paint the fake wood cabinet doors. Not the white fiberglass frames.

Ah, that’s much easier.
I would’t sand them as the fronts are a glued paper type laminate. You should be able to clean them well, then just use a good primer. Most any interior paint could be used to paint the cabinet doors.

I painted mine a few years ago. Just removed them, removed all the hardware then primed twice with a good quality primer. After that two coats of your choice of enamel and they were good to go. Re-installed with all new hardware and knobs. Made a great improvement and never had any problem with any paint chipping.
I cleaned them all and bought the primer and paint. I'm ready to go. Thanks for the help!

How are they holding up? Can you post a picture of them?
