What do I need to equip my 16' Scamp, layout 6 for camping? My first camper and am new to the game.
I have made a starting list and need recommendations of what and where to purchase:
Level?
Chock blocks?
Power cord?
Leveling blocks?
Supplies for dumping black water?
Blocks to put behind wheels?
Anything else you can think of.
Thanks, Sally
It comes with a drain hose but is very low quality and short. I left the holder off the front and mounted my own because it just looks ugly. It’s good to have basic tools, including a square drive screw driver. A cheap volt meter like the one Harbor Freight sells for $6 or gives away with purchase. Nitrile gloves make a good qualifier, you will need them when dumping. You can spend lots of money on stuff, do not try to buy it all at once. I would get an RV water hose (I have cut a 25-foot hose into two parts one at 10 feet and one at 15 feet). I also have a spare 25-foot hose but have only used it one time in many years. A water pressure regulator is a must and a filter is a plus, it keeps the rust and sand out of your water heater.
Fun! You have a good start to your list. Seeing where you are from, I assume you have a Fleet Farm somewhere nearby. A number of those things can be found in the RV aisle of Fleet Farm stores along with a few other things that you may not think of. (You don't need everything they have though.) They have wheel chocks and leveling blocks. You'll also find the level and a few other basics you might want like a pair of pliers, screw driver, and adjustable wrench. (And of course you can venture over a few aisles and pick up some trail mix and mixed nuts to stock up on camping snacks too. Gotta love Fleet!) Of course there are other stores that sell these things too.
Enjoy the process of outfitting your new Scamp!

You will need a jack and the wrenches to change a flat tire. The jack needs to fit under the frame just behind the axle with a flat tire, and then lift it to clear the pavement with a good tire. The wrenches are needed to remove and replace the tire on the hub, and also must remove the spare from the back. The bolts are long and the wrench that works best on the hub may not work on the spare tire holder.
Oh boy! You didn't list all the fun stuff--cookware, dishes, coffeepot silverware, linens, etc. There are various little outdoor grills to peruse also. I haven't cooked inside my Scamp yet as I don't want cooking odors in there. Rugs for indoors and outdoors. If possible, you want to outfit your Scamp completely so you don't have so much to remember to pack. You can buy a nice-sized tote to store the grill, outdoor chairs, rug, etc. so you don't have all that stuff loose. Then all you have to do is gas up the car, pack some clothes and food and you're off on an adventure!

A "tee" style lug wrench is always easier for both trailer and TV. Try the jack you have, it may work for the trailer. Be sure to stay hitched.
We carry (6) 18" 2x6s with the ends cut at a 45 deg. angle for easy drive up leveling. Very handy when you don't plan to unhitch. You can raise one trailer wheel for leveling or both to match the TV. Or you can raise the front or back of the TV to lower or raise the hitch point. Then, lower your front foot and your rear stabilizers and you're good to move in. A little "touch up" leveling is still possible while remaining hitched.
Enjoy your adventures.

You may not need to buy a jack. Check the jack that comes with your TV to see if it will work. The jack that came with our Nissan Frontier is a nice scissor jack that works well. The Nissan lug wrench fits the Scamp wheel lugs but is not deep enough to get the spare off of the back of the trailer.
