Fresh Water Tank and Hoses to Sink

Hi All: My husband and I are new Scamp owners, and are still learning the ins and outs of ownership!  We returned from a trip about 3 weeks ago, with the grey and black water tanks emptied according to instructions.  However, we didn't drain the fresh water tank.  It got very hot here in Central CA the past 3 weeks, and when I went in to do some additional trailer cleaning, I turned on the sink faucet and a really strong sulfur (rotton egg) odor came out!  I looked underneath the sink, and the hoses appear to have growth in them!  I'm not so concerned about the greywater out, but am concerned about fresh water in!  I will now empty the tank and insert chlorine tablets to see if that will take care of bacteria (?) growth.  I will flush it several times before using our Scamp again.  I looked on the website for instructions about the fresh water tank, but couldn't find anything beyond "winterizing".  Does anyone have any other suggestions?

W/H ?

Usually the Sulfur odor in your water comes from your water heater if equipped. Besides draining your water tank remove the plug and drain your water heater while in storage.

Thanks Eddie!

Just returned from downtown and saw your comments. This might be it, thanks very much!  I will drain the water heater as soon as I find the drain and plug to it.  I've flushed out the tank twice already, 2nd time with 2 chlorine tabs, and it smells much better.  However, the hot water hose has black deposits in it (algae or something?).  Is it possible to unhook the hoses to clean them out?   How often should one clean out the fresh water tank in hot weather?  Perhaps leave a bit of water in it with one chlorine tab?   Sorry, I haven't been the one doing much maintenance and have a lot to learn!

Fresh Water Sanitizing

There is a tank maintenance post in the table of contents in the Maintenance section that covers sanitizing the Fresh Tank.

Eddie is correct in the water heater advice with the Sulphur odor so pursue draining that as well.

MORE about tank and hoses

Hi Again SOI Folk: We've been using our 2007 16 ft Scamp many times since August and have loved it!  However a few problems have cropped up.  I've noticed wet spots under the sink and bottom of the closet.  Also dripping under the rear of the trailer after travel.  Are these leaks a normal consequence of jossiling during travel, or genuine leaks?  How do I repair these?
