No water from hot water tap

I was servicing my 2017 13 footer today which I bought new and picked up at the factory.  I drained the antifreeze from the system, attached the water hose from the house to the camper and also put several gallons in the onboard water tank. The electric pump pumps water through the cold water tap fine, but when I put the hot water on no water comes out. Is this because I need to light the hot water heater to actually get water out of the hot water tap? It's been a long winter in northern Vermont!! I just don't remember. Thanks.

Turn the water on

Turn the water on at the back of the water heater and then open the faucet, waiting for the heater tank to fill.

I just played two Scamp videos that I thought would show this, they did not. here is my 2017 16'

No hot water

Good morning.
Caution,
Do not light the hot water tank if no water comes out of the tap when you turn on the hot water knob.  This means the hot water is empty.  Great picture ac of the hot water supply line valve acOgv.  Ours is a older 2011 and the lines are not color coded and our valve is made of plastic.  Have a great day all.

Hot water

Does the picture posted show the valve in the open or closed position? My valve is in the perpendicular position. I did turn it parallel to the hose but with no change. Perhaps it needs more time to fill!?

Most plumbers install them with the handle showing the direction of flow.

In the videos, they were putting antifreeze in fresh water tank and the water heater for winterizing. In the picture here, I have also added a valve to pump antifreeze into the lines from the jug with out putting it in the fresh tank.

time

As already stated do not light the heater. it will damage it.  Also as stated the inlet valve might be closed and need to be turned on. Also the tank holds around 6 gal and needs to fill completely before you will get water out, it can take a couple minutes to fill with the Electric pump. . . Most ball valves like the one shown need to be parallel to the tubing to pass water. Perpendicular is typically off.

The problem is much larger!

There is an 8 inch crack along the top of the hot water heater. I'm sure this is my fault. I forgot to drain the system and put antifreeze in early enough last winter. By the time I got to it, we had already had freezing temperatures. So now the cushions are out, the fiberglass cover is off and I am looking at this hot water tank connected to the water heater and I have no idea what to do next. The hose connections to the water tank are unfamiliar. They look like the are pressed on. They don't screw off. Does the entire unit have to come out from the outside, water heater and tank, or can the tank alone be removed from the inside? I don't have a procedure for replacing the hot water tank. It looks to be aluminum. Is there a possibility of having someone weld it?  Any assistance/recommendations are appreciated.

You will love this...

I think it is PEX I use the clamp type that also requires a special crimp tool. But I think this is what Scamp is using. The only RV water heater I ever changed came out from the out side. There are some ways to "weld" aluminum, but a pro will need to look at it. Safer to go new.

Water Heater

Not a hard item to change out and it should go from the outside once you disconnect everything inside, then a few screws and pull it out. If you don't want to put PEX back in with the special tool (can be rented at the Depot) you should be able to use the proper rated water line and hose clamps which is much simpler to hook up the new one.

new

I am in the new heater camp. I helped a friend pull his out and he had it welded and it worked for about two years and started leaking from a tiny pinhole He did not see and his floor was soaked  over a spring time and damaged.

Sorry to hear of this.
