Water Pump Issues

Hello fellow Scampers. We are into our fourth trip or so on our 98 Scamp we purchased last fall. Most of what I've had to do has been the result of sitting and not being used i.e. rebuilding the furnace after wasps build several nest and just general maintenance etc.. This past weekend our shower / grey water pump slowly started to die. We also noticed the freshwater pump starting to sputter and more or less stop pumping. I've been wondering about the shower pump for the past couple of trips as it seemed to pump slowly. All that being said here are my questions:

1) Do the water pumps work off the 12v system? Thus could a bad battery be the culprit? This was our first weekend being without city water and using the tank alone.

2) Does the freshwater tank and the shower drain tank use the same pump. I only see one on the parts page over at Scamp and it says it does both.

3) How difficult is the swap if I do them myself. I'm pretty mechanical and have done a lot of my own work in the past.

I would love any suggestions or help.

Happy Scamping!

On ours The fresh supply pump is under the dinette and draws from the 13 gal fresh tank and it supplies all the fixtures, Hot water, Sink, Shower, Toilet. The pump for return of the shower drain water is attached to the underside of the shower and returns to the gray tank in the rear thru a 1,inch clear hose in the frame. There is a clear drain filter before the pump to protect it from Hair and soap scum Its cap just unscrews and is usually gunked up and can cause your shower issue. Yes both pumps are run off the battery if you are not plugged in. The Converter should carry both of them if you are plugged in. the drain is easier than the fresh because of the attached plumbing.

Slow pumps

Since you describe both pumps as slowing, then stopping, I'm guessing you weren't plugged in or the converter isn't working. Before buying new pumps, plug in and see what happens. A slow shower drain could very well be a clogged filter which should be cleaned now and then.

You need a volt meter

Are your lights getting dim (LEDs are not so noticeable) or is the fan slowing down?

What is your battery voltage and how are you charging it?

Hello,

Hello,

I think, It's totally depends on your battery.
