So as we look for a new used trailer is there anything we should look for as far as water damage, ex... It seems that I see a lot of older ones for sale. Thats great but we live in a HOA so it needs to be parked/stored and that will make it hard for me to work on it. We have a teardrop trailer now that I built and its my third build but it was all done inside the garage. Most storage places will not let ya work on trailers so can you guy share some experence with looking for an older trailer.
Thanks
Dan

Some Scamps (and other small trailers) can fit inside of a Garage.
Measure the height and depth of your garage and research the trailers that will fit.
One note: elsewhere on this forum it was mentioned that 13' Scamps after 2005 were taller (more headroom) so you might look for 13' Scamps built before that time if your garage height would preclude a post 2005 Scamp.
Happy Scamping !!

Hi Dan,
We live in an HOA and I had my 81 13 Scamp in the garage for years. We had a 96" Garage opening height and if I recall from the floor to the top of the vent was 92" so it slid right in. I got one of the hitch dollies to move it in and out. I could put my current 96 13 in the garage if I wanted to, but I have a 70' pull through storage space that allows me to put up to two vehicles if they fit. That's where Earl's Peanut went after Quartzsite gathering while he visited family in Phoenix area.
Currently, I have a great storage lot and they don't care if you work on them, but I bring it over for a day or two on the weekends to work on it in my driveway when the HOA offices are closed. Always ways to work around the system.
We need to get a really good buying evaluation sheet put together to help people evaluate used trailers. My main items I look for are as follows:
Any SOI members, add on how you evaluate trailers to purchase and we'll start compiling a buyes evaluation list.

Greg, my garage door is 83" top to bottom. I think that the normal but not sure. Cant seem to find one that will fit inside that door opening. I might even be able to do something like let air out of tires for an extra inch or put on smaller tires and wheels to get it inside then change them out again. But I don't think I have enough room still. Found a place close to me that charges 70 a month and I cant find anything less. They said I can do minor work on the rig so that's good too. Wish I could fit it inside the garage
So next question is , if I park it outside in a lot. Will it be OK or will the weather tear it up ? Sounds like a silly question but I'm new to this stuff. I'm thinking the fiberglass exterior can take the weather better than say a aluminum trailer can.
Tks

Our neighborhood has models with the 83" garage and the 96" garage opening. I didn't realize when we bought the house we had the larger, just lucky I guess..... Our trailers are stored outside and can't get much worse than Phoenix sun. I wax once a year and no issues. The 13 Scamp I just picked up was outside for years and chalked fairly heavily. One polish and it's back almost like new. These are tough critters! Just have to make sure you get all your leak points taken care of when you get a new to you trailer and it will be fine.

Thanks Greg, I will be asking where the leak points are when I find one I like.
Riding my motorcycle to Alaska in two weeks will take a month so no hurry till I get back. Then Id like to find one so we can do some winter camping.
