New Egg in the Family

We just can't have enough Eggs!  We hatched a new to us 1996 13 Scamp!!  Here is a picture of the new lil girl in the Egg Hatchery with her big brother.

She's a little rough around the edges, but should clean up really well.

Pretty good shape

No, I wouldn't put this one quite in the restoration phase.  Really just needs complete top to bottom cleanup and some maintenance on items that needed attention.

She'll need a good compound/wax cleanup, rear stabilizers missing, propane - battery replacement, and add some nice features to her.  I did notice all the snap caps are knocked off, so I'll get a bag of caps and rivets and get that taken care of. Otherwise she's got solid bones and is in pretty good shape.  Of course, an Allure floor is probably in order!  laugh

I missed working on my Scamp 13 and it will provide some good projects to post in the mods/maintenance forums. I do the IT for the Boy Scouts Grand Canyon Council and this will become my camp maintenance trailer for the summer camps.

How's ur lil 13 Coming along Wayne?

Just finished this past week

Just finished this past week (May 15).  Will send you photos next week, which you can use in the Newsletter and/or post to this website.  I am not woithout prejudice, but I think most Scamp owners would agree: our restored trailer is "better than new."

Just Got My New Scamp

I've been looking for a used egg camper for about 6 months and finally broke down and bought a brand new one. My little 13 foot Scampy arrived a week ago.  I love it and look forward to many great adventures. My question today is how to get rid of the smell.  This is not a new trailer smell, I think it is the adhesive used to attach the carpet on the walls. I've placed many containers of baking soda in various areas and have had the windows and doors open throughout the days this week.  Has anyone else experienced this and what did you do about it.  Any suggestions will be welcomed.

Your New Scamp

Comgratulations Marcy on your new 13! Very exciting! So happy for you. As far as the odor, yes, I have the fix  for you. Open up a big box of TIME! Yes, it's just time that will erase the "new odor" you are experiencing. Same for that new car smell. Fabreeze, air wicks, and other things may mask the chemical smells of adhesives, new fabrics, the fiberglass off gassing. It will abade in time. Where is home? Hope you can make the Lonesboro MN trip May 27. A big egg gathering, and more information is on the Scamp Forum. We and many others are going and hope you can too!

Doug,Thanks for your quick

Doug,Thanks for your quick reply and your warm welcome.  I sure was hoping you had some magic answer for that smell. But, your suggestion of time is very inexpensive and I have some of that on hand. I agree about the room freshening approach. I really think they create a whole other chemical sort of smell.  So, I'll take your advice and wait.  I live in Northern California. I've been checking out the upcoming egg gatherings and see some on the West Coast.  For now, I think I'll stay on this side of the continent.  Hey, can you tell me how to create a new post rather than what I did which was to tag onto someone else’s?

Hi Marcy, I was born and

Hi Marcy, I was born and raised in San Diego, and miss California terribly! I am stuck in the middle of America due to family issues when I was young. I hate the winters here and we are on the last stages of our midwest winter. We have snow in front and back yard but the streets are clear. I have much planned for the 16 I own, and much travel and fun in my coming months. Now retired from a long career as a pilot, I love being home and all it offers. I am a avid ham radio operator, bicyclist, scuba diver, flight Instructor, and I can do lazy very well!
