Can I pull a 13' with a 2003 RAV-4?

I have a 2003 RAV-4, which I bought new. Yes, I could get a new car, but it's been paid off for a dozen years, runs great, and only has 130K on it. Does anyone pull with a similar vehicle? I would probably need to upgrade with a tow package, but with the cost involved, maybe I'd just be better off with a new similar vehicle?

In any case, we're thinking of doing something next summer in terms of possible Scamp purchase, but for now, just looking at possible scenarios.

Thanks for any assistance in advance!

Rav-4 towing

Check your owners manual for the real towing figures. My guess is it is rated for a 1500 lbs trailer with TW of about 150 lbs.. Fiberglass RV Real World Weights for S-13's range from 1600-2000 lbs.

Underpowered Tow Vehicle

I started Scamping pulling my 16' Scamp with an 08 Ford Escape with a V6.  I live in Washington state so staying out of the mountains is not an option.  Towing on the flat was OK but going up mountain passes was frustrating.  My little Escape had to work so hard that any gas savings from the smaller engine was offset by having to gear down and keep my foot near the floor to avoid being a road hazard.  I am now towing with a Chevy pickup with a V8 and I hardly know the trailer is back there.  Much more enjoyable.
