Hi all. I'm looking to see if anyone out there has any good destination ideas for someone like me. To explain, I like vacations that have a target attraction. Camping in a nice park is the idea but I'm not much of a hiker. I'll like to also see an event or attraction while at or near the camp site. An example of a trip I'm planning is to Cape Canaveral, FL to see a rocket launch while camping. Does anyone have any ideas they would like to share for a target attraction vacationer like me? ...Please? Thanks.

Target attraction vacation
Well, you indicated some of your interests, so here goes. No hiking required here - the location: Pensacola, attractions: Naval Aviation Museum, Blue Angels show (free when done at their home base) and/or watching their practice runs from the beach while camping at Fort Pickens. You can plan this, just find out the Blue Angels' schedule. The rocket launch schedules at Cape Canaveral are much less reliable, I would think.

Thanks Paul. That does sound like a nice vacation spot to do. I think I remember somebody saying that side of FL has very clear ocean water as well. should be interesting.
We have not done this yet but New Mexico they have hot air balloon get together where they have im guessing 30 hot air balloons in the air at the same time also a lot of good boon docking spots close.
Have Scamp will travel !
Thanks Duane. Another good one. I was at the eclipse and they had a couple in the air. That was entertaining just to watch. I'll do some googling around for it but If you get any info on what town or when I would be interested. Thanks for the tip.
It doesn't seem like you want to go north but Rockland Maine has some interesting attractions. Every summer there is a Lobster Festival and a Blues Festival. There is a big on the water Boats, Homes and Harbor show. The Farnsworth Art Museum. Nearby is the Owls Head Transportation Museum with many old cars and air planes. The nearest camp ground is just a couple miles up the road. It is the Megunticook Campground. You can google all the above for more info.
I googled the camp web site and they also list the Maine antiques festival. I like that. I also see the Owls Head Transportation museum that your talking about and that does looks interesting. Now that you brought it up, I was interested in a small boat building school up there a couple years ago that I might look into again now that I'll be Scamping. Thanks Athearn2.
Lots of things to see and do up here. If you do get up this way maybe we could meet for coffee or lunch or just to chat.
Sure. It's always nice to meet new people. BTW, I just got my call yesterday from the Scamp factory. They said to plan for my pickup in September. :)
...So, I might get to ME next summer.
