13 ft scamp 2015 - we travel with our table down, however it is a hassle taking it up and down. I believe it is recommended down as there would be alot of stress put on the brackets and the leg would bounce alot.
Input?

One of the first mods I have usually done on my Scamps is to get rid of all that table hardware and put in a traditional RV pedestal assembly. I use two chrome poles and four pedestals to give solid table setup. Then it doesn't matter if table is left up or down when towing. Cost is around $70 for 4 pedestals and two poles.

I'm picking up our 13 footer in Backus the first week of July. The first mod I'll be making is to convert the bunks to a dinette. Is a pedestal easily obtained or is it advisable to pick one up from Scamp when I pick up the camper?
Anthony Memoli
Probably save a lil money buying pedestal setup here or somewhere similar. Can't wait to see pics of the mod on the dinette.

I am full-timing in my 13' Scamp. I've no hassle changing from bed to table. Takes only a few minutes to change from bed to table and back again.
The heavy board that supports the bed cushions has been replaced with two very light 3/4" pine boards. My bedding and those two boards are stored in the lower (larger) cabinet close to the exit door.

When I saw you register, I thought to myself, this couldn't be the Tioga and George. I have featured your blog on this site since it's inception in our travel blog section, but I had not kept up with it in the last year so I had no idea you are now in a Scamp 13. I've got some back reading to do, don't tell me what happened with Ms Tioga it will spoil the surprise!
Absolutely thrilled you're here, a member of SOI and your blog still lives on in our Travel Blog resource, but now as a Molded Fiberglass full-timer.

We have a 2016 13 Standard with a big bed. We travel with the table down. I have made a very basic take down table that we use when we are on the road. It is built a round a piece of 4" PVC and a length of 1/4" threaded rod. I built it out of material that i had laying around. While traveling, it stores on top of the bed. The table breaks down and is kept in an old pillow case. We also use it occasionally for potlucks, it is a handy accessory. If there is any interest, I can post photos.

I would like to see how you made that table!

Anthony,
I will attempt to post a few photos of our table that we use in our 13 Scamp. The table top is 18" X 28", it stands about 30" tall. and the base is 12" x 24". The leg is 4" PVC 29" long. The leg is centered by squares of 1/2" plywood that loosely fits with in the PVC. The plywood squares are to tne table top and base. A 5/16 hole is drilled through the centers of the plywood squares piercing both the top and base. A 1/4" X 1" X 2" plate that has been tap through the center with a 1/4- 20 tap. The tapped plate is attached to the bottom of the base. The corners that were sawn of the table top are glued under the corner of the base to allow vertical clearance of the 1/4" steel plate. A 1/4-20 all thread rod 30" long is screwed into the base from the top, the PVC is located on the plywood square and the top is placed over the treaded rod and located by the ply wood lock under it. A washer and a 1/4-20 wingnut is tightened onto the threaded rod. Simple.
We have painted the table white for ease of touch up. The table is easy to move and top can be rotated as need for ease of use.
