Hey Scampers!
We're the Clark family. Ben (me) Lisa (Canadian wife, eh!) and our four year old son, Silas!
We're new to the Scamp world and recently picked up a used 2000 - 13 footer. I've been eyeing them for some time now and we found a deal (about an hour from home) we couldn't pass up. I began noticing these trailers around town when we lived in Minneapolis but had no idea they were being manufactured up the road in Backus, MN! Small world, huh!?!
So here we are with this sitting in the driveway. I placed an order for new cushion covers and a few odds and ends that needed replacing. Other than a few things to tighten up here and there it's theoretically ready to camp. We're planning a quick trip over spring break to "break" it in so we're busy over the next few weeks getting to know all the ins and outs of the rig.
We're not new to the travel trailer world as we own a 1949 Airstream Trailwind (16ft) and have recently decided to turn it over to a vintage trailer restorer to bring it back to its original state. It's a long term investment project and we'll restore it in stages. By the way, if you haven't noticed the vintage Airstream reproduction parts are astoundingly expensive. Unlike Scamp where you can pretty much purchase any part for next to nothing in my opinion. It must be the scrappy Norwegian influence up there!
Well, anyway... nice to meet y'all and you'll see me lurking in the forum learning and asking questions as they arise. Hope to see you out there in the woods or out of the road somewhere soon!!!

Ben, nice find, and close to home! Glad to have you in the clubhouse.
There are a number of SOI members in ur general area, maybe someday soon, we can get a Scamp Camp going on the Gulf Coast.

Hey Greg! Yeah, we actually lucked out with finding one this close to us. I was dreading the cross state lines to pick up a trailer deal. Been there - done that.
No doubt, the Gulf Coast is on our radar. We vacation there every Christmas holiday so we know the area pretty well. When we were down there I scoped out the camping area in the Gulf Shores area and it's pretty nice! Keep me posted and glad to be in the clubhouse!
You have good taste in RVs--a small vintage Airstream AND a Scamp! It is amazing how insanely popular both are. We almost scored an Airstream Caravelle on eBay (it was nearby) but the bidding went a bit out of our range. I am really happy with our 13' Scamp, and you will love yours too. Keep us posted with progress on your Airstream restoration!

Rhonda,
We love our Airstream to death but we found room in our hearts for the Scamp. I appreciate both for different reasons. I've watched the vintage Airstream prices go up and up over the years and I'm very thankful we found ours before everything got crazy. I'll update as things progress.
Happy Scamping!
