Winter Snow Cover

Wife and I are purchasing a new 2022 Scamp 19 and have been given a January 2022 pickup date, extremely excited is an understatement!!! Trying to prep for it's arrival and was hoping someone could help with a few questions:

We get an average of 40 inches of snow in the winter where we are, is a cover sufficient as long as I clean snow off after every storm? Concerned weight of snow would be detrimental to the roof!! Pricing the drive in shelters, and got a bit of sticker shock.

If the scamp sits for 4 months in the winter months, do I need to worry about flat spots on the tires?

Sorry for this last one, total ignorance!! If no water is in camper at pickup, and none put in for trip home, is there a need for winterizing?

Scamp winters

Not to protect the tires but most owners get some of the weight off to extend the life of the suspension..

No, the water system should be dry, but you may want to control humidity inside depending on where you live.

I now have mine in one of the shelters, (My Round top was under $5oo when on sale but has cheap cover and only fit my 16'.) but I have used a load lock to support the roof on ALL of my RV's, both in the winter and on the highway. The air conditioner is not light and the roads are bad nation wide.

Load Lock

Thanks for the great idea of the load lock! I put this on my list of things to get when I eventually order my Scamp. If you have a particular model or source of a load lock that you prefer, please let me know.

Load lock

Mine has been in three RVs so it has been modified three times. In the Scamp it only needs a couple of pieces of board to get the length correct. In the Jayco I added a dowel rod to get it to reach. Also in the Jayco I drilled a hole for a lock pin. Under heavy load they will release, and the bounce of the large roof would release it.

hello i live in cleveland

hello i live in cleveland ohio and we get a ton of snow.  i leave my scamp 16 outside in my driveway.  i bought the cover from Scamp (their online store) and use that.  After each snow i take a push broom and push the snow off the top of the Scamp.  it helps to take the weight off and allows the cover to move and breath (there are side vents that allow air through).  so far it's worked great.  the cover is high quality and is holding up very well.

California classics

Is the cover from Scamp for your 16 made by California Classics. Ours From Scamp is for our 2019 13FT. It fit great and looked good and was so easy to use so we used it any time we were not using the Scamp the last year and half. The sun eventually destroyed the tyvec top and it shredded this winter and is no longer usable.  I contacted California classic and they determined it was warranty from the data and info on the tag attached to the cover They did support the product and I hope the white top material is better quality this time. I contacted Adco about a custom high quality cover and they said they have the specs and patterns for the 13 foot scamp.. I have used Adco for many years on 4 different Rv and trailers and a bit more expensive but usually 4+ years  life.  If from CC be sure to register it with them for warranty if needed.

yeah its the classics brand.

yeah its the classics brand.  i have read of members here getting a custom job but they are $500 or more and i can't justify that.  The previous owner for my Scamp kept it uncovered outside in northern michigan.  These were made to beat the elements.

anything

Most anything you do to kep the elements off and still breath is a real help to keep it newer and cleaner.  I did not get an Adco price but will think about it in the future if not crazy money. But might just replace the CC when needed

I'll have to call Scamp to

I'll have to call Scamp to see whether a cover is available for the 19ft. I got a quote from Cal Mark Covers for $979.00 plus shipping and handling, a bit expensive and not sure how long they would last. Not as worried about the sun damage, but I would like to protect from small tree braches and sap from pines on our property.
