Winter Battery

This is our first winter with the Scamp.  I took the group 27 battery off and am storing it in the unheated garage (Indianapoiis, Indiana).  I have it off the concrete floor on a block of wood.

I have a trickle charger I use for my motorcycle.  Is it best to periodically charge up the Scamp battery or is it better to just leave it alone and charge it in Spring?

Winter Battery

Freezing is not good for batteries. Fully charged batteries are hard to freeze. Make sure the battery is fully charged now. Then because you are storing the battery in an unheated area I would suggest putting the battery on charge for a day or two once a month or so. I store our scamp battery in our basement. It does not go below freezing there so I will not do anything to the battery until I put it back in the Scamp this spring.
