We are in

A few weeks ago and After much consideration and some conversation with Jim at Scamp We put a deposit on a 13 foot with brakes, shower potty, heater and the extra cabinets and lights. I called and added the 8 foot awning since then. We are hoping to pick up our little Egg in July. But we will be driving thru Minnesota next weekend and will stop in Backus to see exactly what we jumped into. Has anyone done the tour and what should we be asked if anything. I will call Jim next week and ask to see the place. to not surprise them.  we are coming from a 26 foot Class "C" with a crosstrek as a towed vehicle.  and the learning curve might be steep. We will also be pulling it with a 2018 Subaru crosstrek with the 6spd manual. I know it will be necessary to expect to take our time and not expect too much from the car we have at the moment. We have pulled more with less but it will also be a learning curve. Woo Hoo here we go!!

RE: We are in

Yes, give him a call first. I offered to delay my order trip, as he had just lost a family member. He asked me to stop in anyway. The “models” on display are units that have not been picked up by the new owners, so pick up your new one as soon as it is ready. Hang out here and other groups to learn what to inspect for. Check the brakes before you leave the lot, mine needed to be set up. I also had over tightened wheel bearings on one side, 50 degrees higher than the cool side. They spent a lot of time with me when I picked mine up. Pay close attention, especially to the awning instructions. Ask them to put the LP detector fuse in, they pull it to prevent battery drain, (it would take WEEKS for it to be a problem). Most of all, pick it up early to mid week and stay in the area to check it out. I stayed at Lake Itasca because I wanted to see the start of the Mississippi River.

thanks you for any and all

thanks you for any and all input.  We are not new to trailers, towing and even electric brakes but I much prefer to learn from others experience and knowledge rather than hard way. Sorry to hear of Jims loss.  It will likely be July before ours will be built but now seems to work for a visit if possible. We will stay in the area a couple days as our fall trip and are looking for places to go and things to see.while there.
