Hi Folks!
Just a few days away from the cross country sojourn and thought I'd take a shot at someone knowing where the heck I can find a set of those old-style tail-light bezels. My Scamp 13 is an old, but awesome 1977 (just post Bolero) and the bezels are disintegrating. Check out the picture above. The lamp is 5 x 5/8" square.
Any input is deeply appreciated.
Best as always, Guy
Hey Guy,
Definitely could be wrong as I haven't spent time around a 77, but the early models as far as I knew used a round bus type taillight. These look like a previous owner mod they did to replace the original taillights.
If it were me, I'd look at modifying something cool with an LED taillight that would cover the existing hole and provide enhanced visibility. Tons to choose from: https://amzn.to/2Z8JksV If you're wanting to restore it to original then maybe someone knows here what was on a 77 or a quick call to Scamp Parts and see if they know.

Thanks for the reply Greg! I do suspect that your are right in your assumption.
After the cross country trip (we leave Sunday) I will definitely look into a new light set. For now I've got these operational with a brake display bar higher up just under the window.
Will report back from the road!
Best, Guy
For many years we had taillights like yours on our '73 SCAMP. I do not recall whether they were the originals or later replacements. We now have more modern lenses such as Greg suggested, which are better than the originals IMHO.
Your square tail lights are original. They predate the 80's-90's round top hat tail lights. Around 1995 they changed to the rectangular tail lights. LED tail lights are the way to go. A lot of people go with the 7" round LED school bus taillights a good replacement for the top hats on the older Scamps. The only issue with them is you have to buy and add a plate holder and light. You can find side LED running lights that match the original Scamp lights but they don't have a separate ground wire which is needed for a fiberglass trailer. I usually keep the original running lights. The LED running can be rewired to work but not really worth the effort. FWIW: The majority of older Scamp collisions were a result of being rear ended, so good visible tail lights are a must have.
