In addition to changing the lock on a Scamp 13 door, and keeping the trailer behind a locked gate, what other best practices do folks recommend -- while at home and especially while traveling? Some use a boot similar to those used by police departments to immobilize cars. How practical are those?
Again, we appreciate any and all advice on the matter!
We use a Master Trailer Hitch lock and a wheel boot for our 13 footer. In my view any theft prevention device that will slow the process of stealing a camper is worth the investment.

Thanks, Anthony!
the Master Trailer Hitch is very impressive. I think we'll get one of those. Which boot did you settle on, and do you take it with you on trips?
One thing to keep in mind is that these trailers are so unique and not overly common that they aren’t stolen often. The few times it has happened, the online clubs and forums have posted the pictures and alerts as soon as notified and everyone starts looking for your trailer. Mostly they have been recovered over the years. Of course in this day and age any deterrents one can add are helpful. I have battery case locks and now lock my propane tanks as those items are being stolen quite frequently.

The one I purchased is called Aoteman....on Amazon for $22.00. If anyone has plans to drive away with the camper, they at least know they have to contend with the hitch lock and the wheel lock and will hopefully decide that it is not worth the effort.

Have you ever been worried about your trailer being stolen? The best way to keep a trailer from being stolen is probably to keep it attached to your trailer. But I'll show you some simple steps to lock a trailer so it can't be stolen. The first is to secure your trailer with a link lock and latch lock. , making it impossible for thieves to run away with the trailer. You can install a GPS tracker in your trailer or paint your trailer with fluorescent pigments.
