Smoke detector in13' Scamp

Has anyone added a smoke &  fire detector to a 13 foot scamp? We are wondering the best place to mount one (side of one of the cupboards would be preferable) but don' want it to to go off all the time when cooking, heat comes on etc. Wondering if there's a reason Scamp does not install one?  If someone has had good success please provide name and model #. Thank you.

Added one in our 16

We added a smoke detector at the end of the overhead cabinet above our side dinette. My thinking was to get as far away from the cooktop as possible. (We laugh about that as a couple feet either way isn't going to get you much distance.) I chose a smoke detector designed for use in kitchens. The detector has a hush or silence button in the event it goes off while we are cooking. We have not had any problems and we use our cooking area a great deal.

We don't use the furnace much and only encountered odors/smoke the first time we turned ours on when it was new. I would otherwise expect no issues. (The carbon monoxide/LP detector provided by Scamp seems more critical to me when you talk about furnaces)

I don't remember the make/model but we purchased a good name brand smoke detector designed for being near a kitchen.

My smoke detector is located

My smoke detector is located on the dinette side of the the closet next to the door. Also have a CO detector and the fire extinguisher mounted in the same general location. I replaced both of the detectors when I got the trailer a couple of years ago (the old ones, seemed to work, but had yellowed with age). Have had no problems with false alarms, but I generally cook outdoors other than heating water or making coffee, and I have no furnace.

They did go off the first time I lit my Mr. Buddy heater inside, but only sounded briefly and haven't alarmed since, but again, I do not use the heater very often. I believe it was just the new heater burning off manufacturing oils, etc. that caused the alarm.

Reminds me, time to replace the batteries...

Thank you

Thank you for the feedback.  Just what I needed to know.

Off Topic -- organizing features in your trailer

Scott, Do you have more pictures like this that show how you are organizing your Scamp -- the cutting board, baskets attached to doors, wall, etc.?

Hoping your adventures are wonderful,
Sue

CO detector

We added a battery operated CO detector to our unit. When we're out camping, it pretty much sits on the countertop. We don't do a lot of cooking inside, and don't worry much about having a smoke detector, but we do use our furnace and a CO detector is important to me. I was worried about winter effects (Minnesota) on both the unit and it's batteries. That's why ours is removeable for the winter months.
