Hi Scamp community
I wanted to show everyone the 1979 scamp i have been working on during the winter months.
I redid all the kitchen with surplus material i had from a house makeover i just finished.
The cabinets faces and countertops are repurpused rosewood hardwood flooring glued together planed and reinforced.
The backsplash is extra backsplash tile each tile glue in with polyurethane construction adhesive
The sink bowl is a extra bathroom vessel sink recessed into the countertop and the faucet and the pop up drain are new rubbed bronze . and a outdoor barbecue insert
I will have more pics to come of the solar and inside
Can't wait to see more pictures.
One thing I may caution is that it appears you've removed the structural support posts that are on the left side of the kitchen. I don't see a noticeable replacement or support system in lieu of the wrought iron posts. This is a necessary structural support in the Scamp 13 to stop the roof sag and door misalingment. You might want to refer to this post on a modern upgrade option for the structural support:

You could fashion a support pole out of the rubbed bronze like the faucet and it would fit right into the look.
I love the rosewood for the cabinet doors, one of my favorite woods.

That looks really nice. I'm jealous. Are those the original fiberglass cabinets? If so, what paint did you use and have you found it to be durable?
Also, what is the rectangle between the sink and the cooktop? I feel like there is something hidden there, like a secret hatch!
Really great looking and thanks for sharing.
That looks really nice and you will have a one of kind unit
Launey and Earlene
Thanks the rectangle piece on the countertop is only a radio trim piece lol nothing special.
This little camper has been a great little project during the winter.
i picked it up from this awesome French cabinet maker in Annapolis MD. He had it in a garage at his workshop as a pet project for 15 years he said he never used it. It had new axle, tires ,trailer wiring, cushions, I was really lucky and it was only 1600 dollars and a two hour drive.
The previous owner could not have been more help i was so unprepared he zipped me down to Lowes and we picked up everything i needed to get her home. All i showed up with was a hitch attached to my car. (this is my first trailer) lol
Thanks for pointing out the iron piece that was missing , my camper never came with one but now that you point it out i will come up with something.
The paint on the cabinets is just rustolium stone effects paint with bulldog adhesion promoter primer as a base. The bulldog primer is the key it will make paint stick to almost anything.
Here is a pic of the renolgy 100w solar panel
I used stainless steel cable glands from amazon to pass the wires through the body with no leaks to the 30a solar charge controller.
Here is a picture of the overhead light fixture
It is a deconstructed venetian glass home light fixture that takes mr16 bulbs (mr16 bulbs are 12v)
I made my own base from spare rosewood and added led bulbs from ebay
Also as you can see my trailer never came with carpet on the walls just painted fiberglass.that i painted a cream color
I also added a outside shower right behind the kitchen unit base outside so i could easily hide the plumbing and pump.
I plan on taking her to the beach in July and august this year
If i have time i would like to paint the outside the same color as my range rover a bluish silver
more pics to come...
