Scamp LED taillight install help!

Hi all,

I'm making the swap from the OEM taillights on my 2001 13' Scamp to the LEDs they sell at the Scamp store.  I'm doing it for two reasons: they are apparently much brighter and because my left turn signal somehow pushes a little bit of power to the upper reverse lamp on the right side.  If you look at the diagram (attached), both reverse lamps are driven by the yellow lead but I can't for the life of me figure out why red lead (left turn signal) could have interplay there.

In any case, the LEDs have no reverse lamps (red wire) so I hope it solves my issue.  My question is do I just cut and cap the yellow lead entirely or merge it with the green to green as some folks suggest for the LED conversion?  My worry about the latter is that I'll end up with my stupid blinker issue again.  It seems like the only benefit would be in seven pin towing the lights would illuminate if I went in reverse and my headlights weren't already on.  I'll never need that.

Any help would be appreciated.

Possible

So often when you have odd operation for lights on a trailer it is not the power wire but the ground is bad and when the ground is bad the power passing thru the lamp has no where to go and ends up grounding poorly thru somewhere  else like your opposite reverse lamp. Electrically my comment is technically not accurate but it is the result. For fun if you have not already removed the lights and you take a extra wire and supply a good known ground you can touch the bulb bases and find the offender or Most offenders. The reason I mention this is Led's can be even more sensitive/susceptible to connection issues like grounds and make you crazy.  . Personally I would not connect the Back up wire if it is not being used It is just one more place for weird things to happen and if connected with a 7 way that has back up supplied power, you could over load the back up switch on the car and cause a failure,  or your car back ups would be on with the tail lights. Separate seems better.

I use the back up lights on our 2019 13 and even added a Garmin back up camera above the spare tire that is powered from the yellow/back up wire.

Just my thoughts.
