Hi All,
I have a 2016 Scamp 19' and the exterior underside of the overhanging portion (the sleeping area) is cracked in several places. I'm not sure what material is used but it looks like Scamp painted it white prior to placing the body onto the frame. I bought the trailer used in fall 2018 and noticed the cracks in the spring of 2019. I suspect the cracks occurred prior to my purchase as I had hardly used it at that point. Since it's a relatively new trailer I was surprised to see this. I owned a 1998 Scamp 16 prior to this and it remained in very good shape for the time I had it. Has anyone else had this happen? I'm wondering if anyone has recommendations for doing a repair.

The bottoms of Scamp's are coated with resin for a sealant. Then the upper decks bottoms are painted white. The resin can be brittle and is not reinforced with fiber so it can easily crack especially when cold. The resin cracks are not a structural issue if it is on the flat surface. If the cracks are where the shell meets the floor further investigation may be required since that area is reinforced with fiber. Pictures would help. If the cracks on the flat areas bother you I would fill the cracks with ALEX calking and just paint over it with white paint.

Thanks for the feedback. Here's a couple photos showing cracks. My only concern was having moisture get under there while driving in rain. Using Alex is a good suggestion.

Ken,
One thing you might consider is fitting and gluing some foam insulation board under the loft and then painting the exposed surface of the board with an outdoor paint. It would cover up the cracking, give you a nice clean surface, and provide addl insulation for the sleeping area.
