Received new gravel guard hardware from Scamp & have questions on how to remove/replace rivets holding rusty brackets. Do I need to locate where rivets are inside and remove from interior after drilling them loose? Install washers on inside rivets? Cut rat fur to get to rivets inside? Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks
Once you drill off the rivet head you can take an awl or small punch and push the rivet body back into the trailer out of the way to install a new rivet. On ensolite there will be a slight visible bump and under rat fur they will not be noticeable. If you want to install backer washers you will have to cut the liner or have the washers exposed. The mfg's of fiberglass trailers do not use backer washers. It may help to slightly pull back the liner behind the rivet body before you drill them out.
