Any thoughts on what is a good and currently available option to replace a tongue jack on a 13’ Scamp? I manage to damage the existing one.
Also, I have been thinking about a tongue jack with a wheel so I can move the tongue a few feet for lining up the ball. What are the pros and cons of a wheel vs a flat plat on the bottom? Thanks very much.
There are two main types. Harbor Freight will be the cheapest, but many places have them. What happened to the old one, left it too low and it hit? Some of us have and bent them back again. My current one is a power jack and was about $100.

Here is what it looks like. Not sure whether to repair or replace.
The two concerns would be that it would hang down several inches farther than the plate and easy hit on bumps. Also far more likely to roll if not securely chocked front and rear of tires . We have both, and use the wheel for moving but use the plate once in place.

Can't tell from the pic whether the jack is bent or the A-Frame plate is a problem.
Anyway, I'd highly recommend considering an electric tongue jack if replacing. I put one years ago on my Scamp 13 and have never not had an electric since. Great upgrade.

We have the original flat plate jack. A couple of years back, I purchased a jack with a wheel at Harbor Freight. However, I found that it not allow enough up and down (particularly down) adjustment to level our SCAMP.

Shoot, I kinda recognize that problem. ;) I just took a good look at how the original jack was attached, and went to my local fleet store and got something that would fit the same holes (the Scamp frame was not damaged in any way) with a heck of a lot higher weight capacity (not that I needed it), for around $35. It had no wheel/pad, but of course I still had those from the original Scamp jack, so it was an easy and fairly inexpensive fix.
Personally I prefer manual cranking to electric. Cuz why not. Much cheaper, and one can hardly get too much exercise. But to each his own.
