Removing belly band

I`m a newbie here, bought an 83-13 to redo.My ? is has anyone removed the belly band, and got it back on without major problems ?

I`m pretty much redoing the entire trailer, the PO just loved silicone, and put it everywhere,I`m painting the trailer red with black accents [the belly band],knowing paint won`t stick to silicone ,it seems easier to remove and clean, than to try to dig it out.

This would also allow me to seal the 2 halves ,just in case it might be leaking there.

All input appreciated.

Belly Band

I did the belly band removal on my 81 13. Very simple to remove it, just carefully drill out the rivets and break the caulking away. The clean up took forever and then resealed with 3M 5200 Marine caulk or Proflex would be a good choice. Cleaned the band with steel wool and chrome polish till you could see yourself and reinstalled with new rivets.

The two halves are sealed

Search Caulk Remover and removal tools on line and you will find several.
The two halves are sealed and will not come apart. They are glassed together inside.
