Rear Window Air Conditioner Install w/ Support Bracket

Well summer is upon us here and we've done a couple trips already (i'm in the midwest) and haven't needed an AC but will need one going forward.  I've spent a lot of time reading old threads on this forum as to what is best for older Scamps and know it's basically a Window unit in one of the windows, or the window unit in the bottom cabinet.  We had a popup before this with a window unit in the bottom cabinet (basically same place it would be on a scamp) and it was pretty worthless since cold air falls.  So i've decided to do the rear window install.  I've seen most on here don't do any sort of bracing, they just frame the unit into the window and let that hold it.  I will definitely be framing it in (no bugs!) but was also thinking about one of these universal mounts:

It was the best rated support from the NY Times, apparently it's law in NYC that all window units must have a support (don't want an AC falling 10 stories and killing someone) so it's a big market for these types of things and makes sense why they would review different models.  5 stars on Amazon reviews as well (though that doesn't usually mean much).

I'll try and get some pictures up when i do the install and frame it together, any advice/opinions/knowledge is appreciated.

climate rite

We have a Climate rite CR-5000ACH unit that we take with when the season is on us. it sits on a pedestal I made for the bike rack and two flex tubes pass thru a blank  that fits between the left side of the frame and the sliding window.  One tube is in and one return so all the humidity is taken outside. We started with a Home made version from a electronics cabinet cooler.  . I will get a pic of the first version . We referred to it as the Hillbilly-Rite for two years. Got lots of laughs and comments with surrounding campers. but We slept comfortable.

Ok I finished yesterday.  My dad helped me do it.  We used wood to make the frame, and it was placed in the window channel to offer more support.  The AC mount works very well and is super sturdy.

the support i bought off

the support i bought off amazon, the link is in the first post.  the frame is just 1 x 3 wood, which is actually 3/4 thick which fit's perfectly in the window channel.  yes it's permanent, it's caulked and weather stripped it's not coming out.  i had to remove the sliding window to fit the support but it makes it so sturdy now.

first trip is tonight we leave, we'll see how see holds up.  praying she holds firm and is weatherproof.
