Purpose of these u-bolts

Hi folks,  we just purchased a 1990 Scamp 19ft and she needs a bit of work. We're up to the task, and looking forward to getting her done up right for when borders open and lockdowns end (we're in Canada).

Anyway, on looking this baby over once she arrived in our yard (we bought it sight unseen except for pictures the previous owner sent us), we were wondering if anyone knows the purpose of these U type bolts that are attached to the bottom of the door. We can't figure out for the life of us what they may be used for, because there's nothing on the body of the camper to hook them to.  Any guesses - educated or otherwise is greatly appreciated.

Also, I apologize if this is in the wrong thread.

i don't have those on my 1987

i don't have those on my 1987 16er.  only thing i can think of is the owner installed them to use a bungee cord to keep the door open if they also have the screen door.  i usually just bungee my door open to the awning, but maybe this was their method.

leak

Maybe to pull the bottom of the door  closed with a strap if there is a gap . Some have had the door slowly relax and leave a gap that can be an issue if pulling in heavy rain???

Fun mystery

My Scamp is newer, and has a toggle-type thing to hold the door open.  My guess?  He installed them to tie out his doggies.  Maybe not the best guess, they wouldn't work with the door held open.

I agree with salukispeed,

I agree with salukispeed, probably to keep the door shut while driving.  If you look underneath, you may find corresponding hooks or bolts for the other end of the strap.  Or just email the prev owner and ask.

Has the door lost some of its shape?

My guess is that he has laced tie down straps thru them to restore some of the shape.  If the adjusters were inside of the trailer, tightening the straps would put shape back into the door.  I have seen that done.
