Hello Everyone,
If this isn't allowed, please delete... but I am having a very hard time trying to come up with what my trailer is worth.. I know the best answer of "what someone is willing to pay" but I bought this 85 scamp and have spent the last few years updating it. Last year when I put it up for sale I put a price of $13,900. OBO. You would not believe the negative comments I got about my price. Being a custom trailer I could only base off what a nice stock one is worth. Almost everything has been replaced or restored.
New paint (interior and exterior), axles rebuilt, new rims and tires including spare, new trailer hitch on front, all new wiring, new converter, led lights (interior and exterior). led blue mood lighting, custom made table, updated backsplash, countertop, range, faucet, sink, new window seals, new door, new floor (also sealed with a roll on rubber coating, new flooring, new custom side windows, new exit hatch, new shore power hookup, new ac, new water tank (upgraded to 12 gallon tank) new water pump.. there is plenty more but that is some.
I appreciate any help or comments related to this as I haven't even gotten to use this camper.. well only for Halloween.. (see last pic..LOL) It did scare the heck out of the neighbor kids.. :) but these are hard times. Thank you and take care.
Great restoration job, it is gorgeous! Sad that you didn't really get to use it.
Before I bought my 2014 Scamp, I had my heart set on a vintage trailer. Loooong story, but my husband convinced me to go with a newer trailer as I am mechanically challenged and I wanted to use it on my own. I was glad he did! So, your restored Scamp might be considered kinda sorta vintage but with a modern vibe. I haven't checked in a while, but I think the pricing on most vintage trailers have gone down in recent years except for the really desirable models such as small vintage Airstreams.
Your price may be high, but more importantly you have to consider potential buyers. If I had to sell it, I would market it to younger people who want to get outdoors in style. Do you know anyone with a Jeep? Ha ha ha, I am a Jeep owner, full disclosure. A pic of it in a scenic campsite hooked up to a matching Jeep...ready for excellent adventures! Ha ha ha, a kayak on top of the Jeep would be icing on the cake.
Pricing on any custom item is tricky, and people can be nasty no matter what you are selling. It also depends on how fast you need to move it. Right now would be your best bet as the lockdowns are lifted across the country. Good luck!

Hello Rhonda,
Thank you for the kind words. I have put a lot of time into the camper. I appreciate your ideas. I will definitely run with them. Thank you for taking the time. I really do appreciate it. Take care!
Have you gone through the recent Sold Comps on our sister site to see where things are selling?

The custom stuff is tricky as mentioned above. While all said and done, it's still an 85 Scamp 13 but hobbyists know with a good restoration it will go many more years. On any trailer it's worth what a buyer is willing to pay. I've seen customizations like yours go for over $10K and I've seen them have to come down to get it moved. Your motivation is a big part. If you need to sell quickly you'll have to price aggressively. If you don't need to sell you can go higher and be patient for the buyer who apppreciates your work. Right now is a hot selling market vs slow last summer. Everyone wants their own RV for travel so no airlines and no hotels.
I'd go a bit lower than last time and get it up on our sister selling site ASAP. Stuff is moving.

I think 10k is a great price for what you've shown and told us. I say that as someone who bought a 2000 16' for $8200 and immediately replaced the rear deck, resealed the windows, redid the plumbing, and worked on the fridge. I'd estimate that I'm pretty close to 10K after all the tools, supplies, parts, and time. I bought mine on Craigslist and had to drive 3 states to get it. It seems like there's a growing movement for people to buy RV's right now, especially if there's a toilet in there.
