Optional Fresh Water Tank for a Scamp 16 Standard

Hello to all!

My wife and I are buying a new Scamp 16 Standard (layout 6).  Will be picking it up next June.  We have ordered it with the normal 12 gallon fresh water tank.  We have discussed adding the optional 12 gallon fresh water tank.  I am inclined to do so (even at the cost of losing some storage space).  We have been told that there could be some water fill up and water flow challenges when the 2nd fresh water tank is added.  I am hoping that some of you have had some experience with having added the optional fresh water tank in the Scamp 16, and would be willing to let us know how it worked out for you?

PS:  This is my very first post to the Scamp Forums.  Hope I have done it correctly.

Thanks for any and all feedback!

Scamp 12gal tank is a little small

I don't have the 2nd fresh tank in my Scamp 16 so can't comment on the operational aspects but the "12gal" fresh tank is really 10gal or less in practical terms (always some air space at top, not all water is pumped out when empty). Depends on your water use of course, but when we boondock I carry an extra 12 gal in tanks in back of pickup so we can get 4 or 5 days without a water trip. Happy Scamping!

Water tank

Welcome to the clubhouse!

I like Doug's suggestion. Always have carried extra water in the truck in the 5gal collapsible containers, and never ran out with the standard tank. Guess it would depend on how you use water while boondocking.
