My First Scamper!

Hi Everyone,

I have been lurking on here for years and learning so much from you.  Now I am finally picking up my first new/old scamp on Thursday!  I'm buying a 16' deluxe 1990, floor plan 4 (bunks and side bath without the shower).  Its very sweet and seems in good condition but I know I'm gong to have lots of questions over the coming months as I learn it. I'm so excited I can hardly contain it.

I'm originally from Maine and live in NE Florida. I plan to do most of my scamping, with my Miniature Schnauzer Dirigo, around the region for a year or so until I  kow what I'm doing.

I appreciate you all already so I thought I'd say "hi."

New to you Scamp

Hi Julie,

That looks sweet for a 1990. How's the interior?

You will certainly enjoy the Scamp and this time of year the FL panhandle over to St Augustine is one of my favorite areas to camp.

Thanks, Greg.  The interior

Thanks, Greg.  The interior is pretty clean. A lot of it was updated (flooring, new-ish cushions, cutains etc)...and I like old things. The previous owners were meticulous and kept all documentation for everything they bought for it over the years!  I can't wait to empty it, scrub it down and make it mine. Anyone dry cleaned the cushions covers before?

I believe it is!  I thought the price was good and I negotiated it even a little better. I appreciate your comment though because I've been making m myself crazy second guessing...as one does. There's lots I want to do to it but very littel I have to do right away.

Dry cleaning cushion covers.

We did not dry clean the cushions after we bought our 2004 Scamp in 2013, but my wife took the covers off and washed them. Then we wrapped the foam blocks in the plastic the same way Scamp factory does and used a vacuum cleaner to shrink the foam and slide into the covers. Also at one point I used a rug cleaner to draw tons of mud and sand out of the original indoor/outdoor carpet. It worked out quite well. We have a long runner along the galley, and a smaller rug in front of the door. Those are easy to pull out and shake clean as needed. And the wool runner feels warm under bare feet.

Enjoy your Scamp!

Julie,

Julie,

Congratulations on your first Scamp. I'm in NE Florida too. My first Scamp will be ready for pickup the first week of June 2019. We will have a long drive, but I think we will have a lot of fun.

Enjoy your first Scamp and have fun.

Cleaning the Original Seat Cushions

I found this post while researching as we will be beginning this week the big clean of our new-to-us 2004 Scamp......

Can someone explain this process from an above post: "Then we wrapped the foam blocks in the plastic the same way Scamp factory does and used a vacuum cleaner to shrink the foam and slide into the covers."

Thanks!
