Hi all...I am new to SOI as I just decided that I am going to buy a Scamp soon. With that, I would like to see a few Scamps and I am in the Bay Area in Northern California, far, far away from the showroom in Minnesota. Are there any Scamp owners in this area that would allow me to look at their Scamp in a COVID friendly way?

Looking to Purchase a Scamp
Have you contacted the Scamp factory? Call or e-mail them and they will give you names of owners in your area, who are willing to show theirs. It is part of their business model.

I just ordered my new axle for my 13', 87 Scamp from the Scamp factory. It should be on the way shortly. My question is, is there anything in particular I should tell the installer? I am pretty sure I am replacing the original axle. Any advise on the subject would be welcome.
I did the same several years ago. I gave the shop who was installing the axle for me the phone number of the Scamp Factory. Told them if they had any questions, to call the factory and ask for a service technician.. I assumed, since I gave Scamp the business of purchasing the axle through them, that they wouldn't mind giving the shop the same type of help I would have expected if I were installing it myself. The shop told me that they had, in fact, called Scamp, and that the technician they spoke with was extremely helpful. He answered all of their questions, plus gave them valuable pointers on converting the set up from a weld-on to a bolt on axle. They had nothing but good things to say about their dealing with Scamp.
One more tidbit of advice: When I dropped off my trailer, I made sure to point out to the shop owner that what appears to be a wooden floor is actually fiberglass resin coated wood. In other words very flammable. They will be using torches to cut the old axle from the frame, so will have their flame very close to this floor. They need to be aware and use some type of shielding. Try to do this as gently as possible, without seeming to be telling the professional how to do their job. I made the suggestion with the preface that Scamps are strange little trailers, and not the typical. The owner of the shop took it well. In fact, when I came to pick up the trailer, he joked about it telling me they only had a small fire with minimal damage. I imagine my face was quite humorous to him until he broke out laughing.
Good luck.
