This forum has been great for research! We just drove to Backus to look at Scamps and pit in our order. It'll be ready in January!
We're getting a 13 foot with bunks. No AC but we're getting a fan. We added three reading lights (one above the front cabinet and one under each side cabinet over the table/bed). The guy talked us into adding a light above the table but I've already decided to cancel that.
On the drive home we realized we didnt add any extra outlets. Oops.. Before emailing them to add them I have a few questions.
Is anyone willing to post a picture of what the 12V outlet looks like? (likely a dumb question..like I said I'm new to this :-)
How many 12 V outlets did you add and where did you put them? Same question but with regular outlets (120V). I've seen many people recommend the outside outlet. What do you use it for?
Thanks!
The Scamp parts store can help you visualize a part or add-on you might be considering. Here is a link for the 12 volt outlet.

Placement depends on your particular layout and preferences of course. In our 16 we have a side dinette and our 12 volt outlet went into the dinette seat . We also have the television option they offer so we have a 12 volt outlet at the television just below the rear upper cabinets. (The television can alternatively operate on 110 volts so that receptacle is mounted into the upper cabinet.)
As for 110 volt outlets we added an extra near the door. We had originally thought it best under the rear bench seating but changed to the door location because the bed stays setup full time and would make it difficult to get at. (We have a front closet so Scamp had a place they could mount the electric box for the 110 volt outlet.)
The outside outlet is great for setting up a small table and having your crock pot (or other appliance) outside for any cooking needs.
Adding an extra light now is much easier than attempting a retrofit later. We found staff recommendations from Scamp very helpful.
Reading lights; Because we leave our bed setup full time one of those lights is always at our feet. It never gets used and I wish we had put both on one side. For those that would setup the table / bed as needed having one on each side makes sense. Just things to think about ...........
When we ordered our 16 i did not realize we were supposed to order them. Being totally new on ever owning a camper, i just thought the outlets were 12v , did not understand anything about anything. I learned. I did have a outside receptacle installed. As of today i do not have any 12V. If i am plugged in i use what we have at home. I never camped without hookups YET. Good luck, Carl
We added the outside outlet, one on the bed side of the closet and one on the bunk side of the stove. Better to have too many outlets than too few. We also put a LED light on the bed side of the closet.
