How do I shut off power to battery?

Hi, hoping someone can help.

I'm in a 2017 13ft no bath. I see more modern trailers have a shut off to the battery right inside the door. Mine does not. Is there an easy way for me to shut off my battery power to the trailer?

I had a blown fuse and all my lights came back on when I changed the fuse out but not the Maxx fan. When I read about Maxx fans I see that they may be finicky about power fluctuations but if you shut off all power to them they will reset. This is my last step before I follow Eric's, employee at Scamp, recommendation to take my trailer to an RV repair shop.

Hoping one of you might know.

pull the battery box fuse

that will kill all 12 VDC power, or just pull the fuse to the fan. If your panel had no fuses labeled ( my 2017 did not) you should fill in the labels with everything working. Here is mine, yours may not be the same.

Am I understanding?

Nothing is labeled but I know I changed out the 3rd one down. So it sounds like if I pull that one out again and pull out the shoreline for a few minutes, it will shut all power to the fan... I'm assuming the fan is on this breaker if this is what started the problem.

Fuses are DC / Breakers are AC in a Scamp

The fan is 12 VDC and will still be powered with the cord unplugged or the breaker off. Pulling the fuse will kill the 12 VDC power. What caused the fuse to blow, maybe the fan has a problem?

No problem 2 weeks ago

I last used my Scamp 2 weeks ago and fan and lights worked so I haven't a clue why the fuse blew. First fuse to blow in the 4 years I've had the trailer.

I unplugged shore line and

I unplugged shore line and pulled out fuse. If it reset, it didn't solve the problem. So I'm guessing I'll have to take it to an RV shop.

Thanks for teaching me how to shut the power off to Maxx fan!

To shut off ALL battery power

To shut off ALL battery power to the ENTIRE trailer you can pull the fuse at the battery.  If there is no fuse within 18 inches of the battery then GET ONE.  If you find yourself wanting to disconnect the battery on a regular basis then its best to get a battery switch installed.

Thanks, Gordon!

Thanks so much for the training! I do have a fuse at the battery but didn't fully get that if I pull that all power stops -- kind of obvious when you said it but it just wasn't clicking for me! ( - ;

Shore Power

If you are plugged in to shore power you could still have 12 volts (Battery power) in your trailer with that battery fuse removed.

No, you would not have have battery power.  You would have converter power.  Its still 12 volts DC but its not from the battery.  Not nit picking but its good to understand how things work.  If you want to test your converter then disconnecting the battery is one way.  And vice-versa. (except for some old converters that need a battery to work - very rare now)
