Hinge pin frustrations

Hi all, just back from the shakedown cruise in my 13 footer, a great weekend in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom.  Glad to have that heater at night.  Among this year's problems, the little bent metal hingepins at the bottom of the external water heater access door.  Am I the only one who find it a real hassle to line up the door hinges to reattach it if you take the door fully off (or when it falls off)?  When I arrived I found one of the hinge pins was missing, luckily the top key latch worked.  I figure I'll fashion new pins with wire, maybe make it harder to fully remove the door, which would be fine.  Any novel solutions out there?  Can you buy those replacement pins anywhere?  I've tried calling the factory parts department for other things but couldn't get through, they're so busy I imagine.

Thanks.  Now I need to post a thread about the failed water pump.  ;-(

same pins

If your has the same pins as mine  they are the same ones on my old motorhome  They are very hard and break if you try to re-bend the factory ones. I made new ones from a piece of 3/16  rod from MenardsThey worked fine  but after several years they rusted and left streaks on the side. .I might have seen replacements at a Camping world  store.

We are taking our maden voyage tomorrow to Ohio for the long weekend.

Thanks for the advice.

Thanks for the advice.

I'm an Ohio boy, born and raised (and college).  Where are you going in the Buckeye State?
