Went to the hardware store and bought a straight garden hose size 1/4 turn valve, a female garden hose fitting with a 1/2 inch barb, one foot of 1/2 inch hose, and one clamp. Put it all together and cut the end of the hose at about a 45 degree angle

I made a filler up very similar to Paulotto. See photo. I have seen these fillers sold in RV stores as an accessory.
