Hi, All. I forgot to post this video we made on modifying or replacing the older-style door latches to be able to lock the door from the inside. We also have a video on replacing the stabilizers coming pretty soon. Hope it helps someone! Enjoy!

Easy DIY Door Lock Mods for Scamp, Boler, Casita, and other small trailers.
I've seen house entry door, regular trailer locks, etc modded in. Lots of options if one is handy.
Video looks great, and this looks like it would be an excellent mod for a poor stock Scamp door lock replacement.

My 2004 came with the pin and chain as shown as option #1 in the video. When traveling, the pin swinging on the chain would make the rat fur dirty. I solved it with a small magnet that stays on the metal cover of the lock and when not locking from inside, the pin is held in place, not swinging freely.

I bought the new one shown in the video. I always had trouble finding the hole to place the pin in. Poor eyesight, prescription lenses mixed with low light at night makes it difficult to to lock. So after seeing the video I ordered one. It was super easy to install.
I am aware now that if lock is set in the locked position as you leave the trailer and you shut the door, your not getting back in. The key will not open the door. Also, as well made as it is, the one I got, the handle will not spring back, I have to lift it up to allow the latch to take.

I do not normally have a problem with securing the lock with the pin, but when I turn the lights out and head to the loft, I have to find the little hole by feel. It works after some practice.
