Dometic refrig: how different is 2202 from 2193?

Hello again,

My recently acquired Scamp 16' has a Dometic RM 2202 refrigerator.  It's 3-way, but the 12V doesn't seem to work.

Naturally, I went looking for service manuals.  I found manuals in abundance for the 2193, which looks very much like mine, including the controls.  Mine has a little freezer compartment, which may be the difference.  I can't find a user's manual or a service manual specifically for the 2202.  Scamp has a parts list on the website, so if I need to order a 12V heating element (what I suspect it needs), I can probably get the right one.

Anyone know about these models and their manuals?

thanks,

Randy in Paonia

SCAMP Trailers

The manuals are almost all on the SCAMP Trailers site.

These are also available in our maintenance forum section and are sticky at the top.

Well, thanks, but I'm aware

Well, thanks, but I'm aware of those pages.  You might notice that, under refrigerators, we have parts lists for several models, and an Installation and Operating manual for the 2191 and 2193.  No service manuals.  The Operating manual for the 2191/2193 is fine as far as telling me how to work it.

Fortunately, my interest tapered off suddenly with the discovery that my 12V mode does work, it just needs several hours to cool down a warm fridge in warm weather.  So I'm good to go (until something does quit).

Thanks,

Randy in Paonia

Dometic

Well Randy, as you discovered Dometic and some of the other manufacturers aren't real good about putting out manuals for every product. They tend to put out a manual that covers multiple models. The parts manual on the sites probably is all they have specific to RM 2202.

Glad to hear it is working. We generally recommend a 24hr cool down period on all the RV fridges prior to loading and leaving for a trip. I usually go over to storage the day before and fire the fridge up.

Yes, we plug our Scamp in 2

Yes, we plug our Scamp in 2 days prior to a trip to cool down the fridge, and don't forget, the trailer must be almost level for the fridge to work.
