Cleaning the Interior Fur

We are picking up our new-to-us 19' Deluxe this weekend!!(YAY)   and we are going to do a deep cleaning before we hit the road.

Can the interior lining withstand being vacuumed by a strong wet/dry vac?  Thanks in advance.

Hi Northill

Welcome and congratulations on the "new" 19 deluxe. They are easily  pulled with a smaller pickup  and easy to maneuver in tight spaces.

I have always vacuumed the rat fur with a wet/dry shopvac and have never had any damage because of it. I am considering getting a carpet steamer to do a more thorough cleaning. Does anyone have any experience/advice doing this?

Another advantage of the rat fur is that velcro will stick to it and it provides a good place to store small/lightweight items. (ie tv remote, kitchen hot pads, etc)

I hope that you enjoy your 19 as much as we enjoy ours. It is perfect for the two of us.

Just a Followup

I read last night on another thread that someone suggested using the Bissell Little Green carpet cleaner for the rat fur.

I bought one today and it did an excellent job. It dried quickly and got every stain that I found. We even used it on the front door where the former owners neglected to keep the bottom portion cleaned. The first time we used it on the door, it made a huge difference. We'll try again tomorrow to see if we can get even more of the road dirt off.

Highly recommend this cleaner. Amazon has it but WalMart had the better price.
