Bunk Bed Modification

So my daughter saw the top of the bunk bed where her daughter/my granddaughter would sleep and said, "No way. Ava will roll right out of there." So I went looking for modifications on bunk beds and did a slightly different one than Greg A had posted (https://www.scampowners.com/forums/top-bunk) not too long ago.

I used 1 inch PVC -- two 8 inch pieces, one longer piece -- about 37/38 inches, and two slip on 90 degree elbows. Created in just a few minutes since I had the hardware store cut it for me.

Now daughter is thrilled with granddaughter's safety. And of course, granddaughter Ava has been thrilled the whole time because she gets to sleep, "Up there!"

Bunk Rail

Awesome job Sue! That is exactly how we had approached it years ago. It also will store behind the back cushion when you convert it back to the sofa.

Like the storage idea

Greg, It was so funny when my daughter reacted the way she did. Prior to ordering my Scamp I had read 100s of pages on Scamps via this site and the Fiberglass RV and i knew I had seen an easy modification that I could do. Then when I went looking and found your name on the one I had remembered, I had to chuckle. I value your opinion so I went for my first mod and I'm loving it. I also like how you said I could store it because it didn't really fit anywhere so that's where it will go in the future.

Thanks!

Hoping your adventures are wonderful,
Sue

Good Idea!

Or like for cold weather camping -- gloves, too! I love the idea.

kid bunk keeper-inner

Took the granddaughter camping for the first time. Of course she wanted the upper bunk. We used a section of that Rubbermaid shelving to keep her contained. She loved it. Also works well to contain gobs of stuff when we are on the road.

Wonderful!

Love the double whammy of being able to also organize!
