We are proud new owners. Our 16' was delivered 2 weeks ago. The weather has been off and on so we have not had a chance to take it out for the shakedown trip yet. We have had some time to check things out a little. About a dozen of the nuts (those silver caps on the end of bolts) aren't even finger tight. How tight should they be? How do you keep the other end from spinning while you tighten them? We are excited for our first trip (right now planned for Memorial Day weekend).
Thanks
Tom
The acorn nuts are not threaded on. The acorn nuts cover the rivet ends and spread the pulling force of the rivets. The rivet goes through the shell, rat fur and reflectix (bubble insulation) and after initial travel they may appear loose from compression of the materials. Just keep on the look out for leaks. You can't tighten them up with out replacing the rivet. The rivet at the corner of the closet by the door is usually the first to fail. I usually replace that rivet with a stainless #10 screw and nylock nut. Most others I just replace the rivets with rivets.
