Best Scamp for full-timing?

I need to replace my old TT with something newer and better. I'm a retired full-timer. I've had several travel trailers over the years. I used to own a Casita and liked the durability of the fiberglass body. My biggest problems with it, as well as with my current unit, are that the toilet/shower are pretty cramped for regular bathing, and there's not enough counter space in the kitchen. It seems like a 5th-wheel would be much easier to tow, so I'm seriously thinking about a Scamp 19. They really seem to hold their value well but I'm not sure if it's really a good choice for full-timing. I always manage to be in the Southern part of the US during the winter, so the lack of thick insulation probably won't be an issue. I would not want to have to break down the dinette every night for sleeping, and I'm pretty sure I would get tired of climbing into a loft every night. That stuff is fine for a short vacation or if you're young and spry, but neither applies to me! So maybe a 16 would be more suitable. Please share your thoughts, particularly if you are full-timing. Thanks!

Full Timing Scamp

Having redone most of the Scamp models, I would think personally the 16 side dinette would probably be the best for FT. Although, I do know a number of FT'rs in the 19 they usually aren't tall folks. The 19 is rough for me as I'm 6' and the loft bunk is too small to be comfortable for me. A bit claustrophobic as well.

My friend had a 16 front dinette and it made the bathroom very cramped, so I would opt for the side dinette model. Layout 6 or Layout B

full-timing with a 16-ft Scamp

I have a 16-ft Deluxe Scamp.  I would not be comfortable living in it for more than a couple of weeks because it is confining.  A 19-ft would give you a little more space.  But, I agree that it would get old climbing up to the loft and down during the night for bathroom trips.  A nice thing about the loft is that it can hide a mess if you have company.  I think that you should look at other trailers in the 20-ft size for full-timing.  Some of them have pull outs which can give you precious more space.

The only way for the tallies

The only way for the tallies to sleep in a 19' is to have a Standard 'C' layout.  I am 5'8" and side to side is tight (especially with the room darkening shades) It has the couch that folds up into a bunkbed.  Its also minus the wall of the Deluxe.  This means you can sleep front to back.  Climbing up and down isn't too bad.  We have two methods; using couch as a step stool (more challenging) and a tupperware step stool that makes it really easy.  We are not athletes, we bike, walk, hike, close to 60's...not bad at all really.  I will include a pic to show what I mean about sleeping direction/option, last pic is side to side width  Living in one full time (any trailer that is not designed to, most all are for the RV/vacation use, would be challenging)  Youhave to have AC and a furnace in whatever you decide.  The Scamp can heat up in the sun and cold is cold eh?  They are not insulated for long cold stints w/o the furnace.  We are selling ours, and would love to say its perfect for you (maybe it is...lol) but I would shop for a tinyhouse somebody just couldn't handle living in after all...whatever you find, good luck my friend!
