Battery wire colors.

my 92 13 foot scamp has a white wire with a 3/8 dia ring lug, the positive terminal is 3/8 dia, and a black/ white wire with a small dia ring lug. All the info I have found say that a solid black wire is positive. The wiring appears to be factory stock. What is the correct color for the positive hookup to the battery?

Battery leads

On a Scamp white is ground (-) and black is hot (+) There should be a decal on the shell near the battery giving you the color code. If the wires don't match check under your front bench seat and see where the outside wires tie into you trailer wiring and see if someone has messed with the outside wiring.

To make it easier on yourself in the future

To make it easier on yourself in the future, when you identify the correct wires, wrap some green electrical tape around the ground wire near the connector, and some red electrical tape on the hot wire. Electrical tape does come in colors.

Actually, you really only need to do the green.

You will never confuse the wires again.

Wiring

Eddie is correct on both the intended Scamp color coding and changes people make along the way. I've had the whole spectrum including both wires going to the battery being the same color. (Obviously all they had in the garage at the time) yours does sound as if it is still the original Scamp color coding.
