Shows a 96 in ur profile. If it's the original axle 20+ years would indicate ur at or near the end of its life, but there are exceptions as my 81 went about 28 years on the axle. Post a side view pic and we'll be able to tell at a glance. You can also put ur closed fist sideways on the top of the tire and see how much clearance you still have to the top of the well.
it is about $300-700 to replace depending on a number of variables. Axle replacement is covered in the Maintenance table of contents. If you can have it done at the Scamp factory that is a good option.
I have a feeling I have to replace mine as well. The tongue is about 12" above the ground. Thanks for the price estimates, going to the official scamp factory would be a good option, I assure you can call and set an appointment since they won't need to go through a whole "measurement" step before ordering parts.
Is it 3/4 of the whole tire (sounds low), or 3/4 of the upper side wall above the rim (sounds good)? May also depend on the year also.
