Advice for Newbies

I recently ordered the 13' deluxe front bathroom and I'm so excited!  While I wait for my order, I've been looking through this forum for ideas on how to make it my own home away from home!  I really appreciate all of the great ideas and advice here!  There are so many things one can do to modify the camper and many appear to be necessary such as the modifications to make the door close from the inside easier.

I have a few months before my camper is ready, but want to have a good plan in place.   Since my camper will be delivered in the winter, I will use the time to modify as needed before camping season begins next year.   What are some critical modifications you all think I should do immediately or within the first few months of ownership?

FYI - my order includes all of the major bells and whistles:  AC, heater, vinyl flooring, and the little extras.  This is also my first camper, so in terms of newbie, I'm really new!

Thanks!

May I ask why? I to have a 13 footer coming in the fall, mine is very basic and I plan on living in it full time. Any info is most appreciated.

Thank you

Brake Switch

Get a brake away switch installed on your electric brakes. Last I heard they still are not installing the brake away switch.

Wheel Balance

The wheels are not balanced on new Scamp trailers. Some wheels can be pretty close to being balanced and others can be pretty far off. Out of balance wheels will cause a lot of vibration. That in turn will cause things move around a lot while traveling. You may notice screws coming loose. On our 13 wide bed the front bed support board would fall out of place until we had the wheels balanced. Balanced wheels is one of those little things that can make your Scamp experience more enjoyable. I do think Scamp should balance the wheels but they didn't ask for my opinion!

Break away switch

I picked up a Tekonsha breakaway switch from the local RV dealer for under 10 dollars and it was no big deal to bring the wires inside  under the front to connect it between the 12v battery and brake wires. I fused it at 20 amps for safety . I suspect that at 1500 lbs it is not required. It was a little bit challenging to work in the small area  but very do-able
