80's Dometic Fridge finally bit the dust, time for a Modern Replacement

my 1987 Scamp Dometic fridge finally stopped working on electric and propane.  So i need to replace it.  I see Scamp offers the 2 options below:

DOMETIC CRX1065 2.0 REFRIGERATOR

DOMETIC RM2354 3.0 REFRIGERATOR

The 3.0 looks a lot bigger and more for the modern scamps (i'm not sure that will even fit in mine), i'm guessing the 2.0 would be a similar size replacement to my old one.  I don't really care about the size, i just want something that fits.  it's 1k in dollars.  I know i'll need to cap off my propane line since the 2.0 is only 12V and 120V.  My questions are, anyone else replace there's and have suggestions?  Does anyone suggest other models or place to source one? Any modifications i'll need to make other than the propane?

Any and all suggestions/tips/advice appreciated.

The fridge in our 2004 Scamp

The fridge in our 2004 Scamp faded last year. It was Dometic RM2410. I replaced it last summer with with the RM2354, it is still close in size, and I did not want to give up on the propane option. 12V fridge is said to drain the battery in no time. The 2354 being somewhat smaller allowed me to insulate the cabinet the way it is recommended in the instructions. We made two trips with the new one and we are both happy with it. The new one does not come with any door panel (or it is very expensive), so I bought a sheet of Lexan and cut it to size and installed an old poster behind it to cover the insulation foam. The new fridge is three-way, but I do not plan to use the 12V. It still needs 12 volts to run the controls. When turned off (for winter), it does not draw any power.

are there any other

are there any other alternatives?  Or are the Scamp options the only ones?  The 3 way wouldn't fit so it would just be the 2 Way and i'd have to cap the propane lines.

The 1065 is compressor type,

The 1065 is compressor type, the 2354 is absorption (ammonia), so they are totally different animals. The absorption cooling system is much larger than a small compressor. Go by the dimensions and avoid big changes of the cabinetry. It is much easier to put in cabinet front fillers, than the other way. Also, capping  off the gas line is a matter of buying some standard hardware from an appliance store, so that is not a big deal. Look up recommendations on the 12V wire gauge to run the current to the compressor (5.5 Amperes), so you do not waste power warming up the wires. Stringing new wires is also not very difficult. If you usually camp where you have 110V AC power, that is what you should prefer to use, of course. Good luck!

I have the compressor type 2

I have the compressor type 2 way in my 2022 Scamp.  So far, I like it far better than any of the absorbtion fridges I've had in the past.  I run a solar panel to keep the battery charged, and haven't had an issue with running the battery down yet.  Of course, boonedocking in crappy weather could change this!  But I've run the fridge without hooking to shore power or solar for a couple of days without draining the battery so far that it wouldn't work.

Not sure if anyone is still

Not sure if anyone is still here, but our 2023 Scamp 13 standard came with the Dometic CRX65.  I see it on Amazon for about $650.  https://amzn.to/3TNjkmN
