Anyone run into any side clearance issues with the F-150 towing the Scamp 19? I know some of the newer trucks require a higher clearance and lift kit on the Scamp.
I needed to do the same thing Mussy when I bought our Scamp 19 last year. I was fortunate to find an SOI member close by that was able to do it for me. Hopefully, you'll have the same luck. I did check with local towing companies and most all towing companies can flatbed the Scamp 19. If the distance isn't too great it might be worth a call to some of your local towing companies and explain what you're needing.
Same here. We bought ours before we realized how different they are. I tried to use an online towing service, but the ball size was an issue. One guy thought he may be able to flatbed it, but by then I had found a truck I could mount the hitch in. The seller had the hitch, but had wrecked their truck recently. I was lucky that the person I bought it from was very patient.
Yes. We are still renovating it, but we towed it once for about 250 miles with a v6 F-150 2wd. No problems.
I am not aware of any current truck that couldn't handle a scamp 19, but I'd probably not want to live with a 4 cyl pulling one around. Others around here will have more experience actually pulling one, but the prior owners of ours pulled it with an s-10 and then a sierra. I believe v-6 and v-8 respectively, but I'm not certain. They put 13k miles on it.
Absolutely
