In my research, I came across the Moka Pot on another camping forum. I must have been living under a rock because I never heard of these things. I ordered one to try in our kitchen. They are small, simple, do not require a separate vessel to boil water, easy to clean, produce no paper waste, and the pot keeps the coffee pretty warm for a time. And the coffee quality is amazing. I may just keep it in the house and order a second!
I got a cheaper knockoff, (the Vremi) that is almost identical. One thing to keep in mind is that the cup measurements are demitasse size. I got a 6-cup and it makes about two small American cups. It makes pretty strong coffee though, so you could water it down and get three cups from that size.
We started Scamping with a color coordinated coffee maker that made one cup at a time. No bueno. We spent all of our time brewing coffee. We quickly dug up an old Mr. Coffee that had been retired and Voila! we're back in business with a must have for proper Scamping, several tasty brewed cups of Joe.
we saw these in europe bought one but one but no luck!
I use the AeroPress. Grind the beans before a trip. Scoop what I want and sqeeze the coffee into the cup after adding 179 degree water from a kettle.
Take an adventure while you can!
Not only decent coffee but it warms the place up. I add a filter to the basket - makes clean up easier.
