Just Back from Backus

Sandy and I just got back from the factory having picked up our 2017 16 Deluxe. Everyone was great to deal with and made the experience worth the wait when we made our order late last fall.

We camped overnight about 5 minutes from the factory to test everything out. We stopped back the next morning to ask the factory to adjust the door seal to make it a little tighter and picked up a missing owners manual for the HD TV antenna. It took about an hour and we hit the road to head south back to home here in Illinois. We had no problems towing and other than a slight tug on the truck once in a while we didn't notice much difference in handling.

Glad to see a couple changes from what we looked at last year:

- Maxxair  multi-speed roof fan with built in rain cover and remote control. (really cool!, no pun intended)

- LED reading lights in the rear bed area. (no other LED's utilized and that will be my next upgrade)

- "D" rated tires

We camped for a total of three nights as we headed back ............ really fun and love the new trailer.

Agreed!

We also just returned -- though with a 13. I agree with the enthusiasm about that fan. Being able to set a temperature and have it come on even when you are gone will make a big difference to our dog (among others).

After reading the complaints here about the bed, I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable it was.  Perhaps they have gone to a new level of foam.

My one parts problem was my own damned fault.  I didn't screw in the latches on the refrigerator switchbox cover.  It's now somewhere along the road in Iowa. My replacement should arrive from Scamp in a few days.

Trip

Congrats on the new Scamp

It's only been a couple weeks with the new one here and we continue to organize the inside. I agree the big bed isn't bad and we had no problems sleeping for three nights on the way back from the factory. We did purchase a 4-inch memory foam cover but have not gotten it cut down to size yet.

Speaking of the outside cover.........one of my next purchases will be insect screens for the water heater, frig., and furnace. Here in Illinois the flying fun is starting and who knows what will try and build a nest in those places.

Lots of fun

Yay, the bed!

C2B2, So glad to hear you are enjoying your Scamp, and I'm really thrilled to hear the bed is comfortable. I'm hoping that I remember your post when I finally get my Scamp so that I screw in those screw. I want to learn as much as I can prior to pick up. Thanks for the update!

Hoping your adventures are wonderful,
Sue
