Suburu towing a 13ft

We're looking at Scamps and also looking for a car. Has anyone used a suburu in the Rockies pulling a 13 foot?

Suburu

Looks like it is rated @ 2700 lbs tow capacity with 200 lb tongue weight. As long as ur careful with the tongue weight it should be a good tow for a 13 Scamp. I know a lot of folks tow 13's with them.

someone will probably weigh in here with actual experience, but it should be ok.

Thanks,  I've read where they are great on the open road but wondered how they perform in mountains. We're headed out to Utah in September. We've been tent campers, but since we're due for a car thought we'd switch over to a camper, we are getting older and its something the kids could borrow too. Was looking at popups and came across the Scamp, love it. I just have to find a way to see one in person.

Subaru and a Scamp

I pull a 13' with my 2014 Forester--no problem in the mountains.  I live in Estes Park and have gone over Trail Ridge Road a number of times, up the Poudre Canyon, and up and down to get in and out of EP.  LOVE IT!!

Weights

No AC nor awning.  Does have furnace and fridge, one propane tank and group 27 battery.  I haven't seen any newer 13' with less than a 200# tongue.

So many factors, trailer weight, tongue weight, how the weight is distributed front-to-back AND side-to-side, keep heavy things low, etc. etc.!  Tow ratings on the vehicle - you choose to meet, exceed or whatever.  Personally, I'd love to have a Tundra so I could concentrate on any trailer mods I wanted to make and load it up and go camping; and at the same time not be stressing the tow vehicle which inevitably will add to maintenance and repairs.

OH!!!  Did I mention trailer brakes??!!!   Brakes on the Scamp 13' are an 'option'.  Please order them.  You'll be so glad you did; they really should be a standard item.  I LOVE my Scamp!  Happy Trails!
