Hi, we are just got our 1979 13' scamp (yay!) the issue is we couldn't get it into the driveway, it wanted to bottom out (our drive way is pretty normal, not steep at all) ) The first picture I am posting is how it looks in drive (does it seem low?) the second is of my husbands "solution" to the problem.... Ideas? comments, suggestions? please ;-) ps.I will post other new pics of the "project" soon :-)
Given that it's a 79 probably never had an Axle replacement. It looks to be riding quite a bit low which is an indicator it's time for an Axle.

I was a bit scared of that :-( I'm a TOTAL trailer "Newbie" guess I'm going to learn a lot!
It's not unusual to find it's time for an axle on the older trailers. They normally will need replacement anywhere around 20 years. Some will go more and some will go less. In the maintenance section table of contents is some axle info and search will bring up more discussions. I used a horse trailer shop to do mine, but many trailer shops can handle it.
From what lil else I can see, she looks in pretty good shape. Looks like you have a 3 way fridge, and a furnace are those functioning? How's the upholstery and flooring? Can't wait to see some more pics. Looks like a nice lil Scamp overall.

Welcome to the club house! You shall have many years of Scamp fun for sure. Yes, your new to you trailer is certainly riding low, a sure indicator of a tired axle. Where is home? If a cold climate, winter storage is the trailer jacked up to relive the axle, take the tires down to 20 psi. Ours gets winterized early November.

Having owned our 1974 SCAMP 13' 40 years (with one axle replacement), I would say your trailer is sitting at "rock bottom"!
Thank you all for your comments..., I'm pretty sure that a new axle is the answer... My husband is skeptical... so I am showing him now how to post :-) He took trailer today to local shop, which was no help ;-(
